How to Make the Most of Your Cooking School Experience
1. Bring a notebook or clipboard and pen for taking notes. Students sit in rows of chairs and most find it easier to write on a hard surface.
2. Wear a warm layer. Some nights the kitchen is cool - other times the oven makes the class nice and toasty.
3. Come in early and save your seat. Although our ceiling mirrors provide everyone with a good view, you may prefer a certain location. Seating is first-come, first-served, so feel free to drop by before the class starts.
4. Be on time. We start on the hour, no exceptions. Although we do allow late students to join the class, you miss out on important information that the class builds on later.
5. Turn your cell phone off. This is a courtesy to the chef as well as the other students.
6. Ask questions. This is your opportunity to interact with a culinary expert and have all of those cooking techniques and terms demystified. The chef is awaiting your questions and is there to impart wisdom on the home cook, so don't be shy!
7. Avoid wearing strong perfumes and colognes. Cooking isn't just about using yours eyes to see how the food is coming along. It is just as important to listen to the sounds coming from the stove and smell the progress wafting out of the pots and pans.
8. Leave comments. We take your suggestions seriously and rely on your feedback to help us provide classes that you are interested in.
